The Chancellor has announced that this year’s Spring Statement will take place on Wednesday 13 March 2019. The government will respond to updated UK forecasts released by the Office for Budget Responsibility.

The government can make changes to fiscal policy at Spring Statements, should economic circumstances require it, but it is expected that the Chancellor will generally only make significant tax or spending changes during the Budget each autumn. The Statement is however an opportunity for HMRC and the Treasury to announce consultations, including early-stage calls for evidence and consultations on long-term tax policy issues.
